Such intense propaganda, as long as they keep repeating "lavish pensions" their work is done, unlike those poor 25 hedge fund operators who made enough last year to hire 380,000 teachers

would have linked to the REDDIT submission, but couldn't find the link :(

How true, seems like it took them over 10 years to get this article out. No mention of Hershey's York Peppermint Patty factory, Carhartt Clothing, Red Wing Boots, it's rather sad.

Even in my country, the USA, there are kids as young as 13 working on a meat cutting kill floor, 12 hours a day. That's not ethical by my standards. It's not luxury, it's moral responsibility.

Who's ethics are we talking about? They are #3 in retail, maybe they get what they pay for

Nike being at the top is rather silly too. The Gap having little kids making their crap should get them a lot lower than 99. Cisco gets #8 for creating China's firewall.

More on the private vs. public sector wages and benefits

Joeunionreview -2 points-1 points 5 months ago[-]

Silly post, how many government waitresses are there(min. wage at around $2 an hour)? Is DC in charge of McDonald's too? How easy is it for an undocumented worker to become a fireman, not quite as easy as getting a false SS card and working for the privates, eh?

Articles like this just help the elites to get the wrench turners in this country to fight amongst themselves.

Jay Gould's dream over 100 years ago "I can hire one-half of the working class to kill the other half." Now the elites own all the media, they don't even have to pay us to fight each other

US slaps duties on steel pipe from China - A victory for US Steel Corp and the United Steelworkers union!

lol, I've had plenty of submissions that sunk like a rock around here. That's why I have a FB page to post stuff that doesn't interest many Reddit peeps.

That being said, anyone who has a 401 fund usually unwittingly invests against their own interests, hence the big push to "privatize" social security, so they can use our money to play with easier.

My Norwegian friends dad was a merchant marine, he has since passed away, but I remember all the talk about ships when we were kids, he was very proud of that. I agree absolutely with holding accountable the people up the rung of the ladder, but they have loopholes, in one such case when children in China, working 14 hour days, were making Christmas ornaments for Wal-Mart and Target, they just passed it off as "it's not our fault what our contractor does to get the job done." Getting cheaper than that is slavery, with our population growth, and the lax labor laws around the world, it is becoming very prevalent, and yes aside from what their history teaches, right here in the US. We have a lot of workers here who fly "under the radar", so to say, and are beholden to their employers for their passage to our country, that and a lot of whom are constantly threatened by their employers with a phone call to the immigration authorities, all are underpaid, most are forced to get wages way below legal standards, forced overtime, etc. It's a sad state of affairs, millions of people working here with no voice at all. It all goes back to the greed factor.

I would love to see more members of the science and academia tackle our future problems of mass starvation.
